MS Outlook is the most widely used mail-client software today. It gives an easy way to store and manage e-mails, and other miscellaneous information like calendar events, tasks, and notes. Outlook stores mails and other items in a PST file. You can access the saved items quickly using the application.
Suppose, you have an Outlook PST file having important mails in it. You want to export the mails and other data to some other MS outlook. You copy the PST file to CD-ROM and then try to import the data using 'Import and Export' feature of MS Outlook. At this point, you may get an error, denying access to Outlook file. The message could be like, "Personal Folders: Properties for this information service must be defined prior to use". After you click OK to confirm the event, another error message is displayed and import PST file operation is denied. The error message displayed is, “Microsoft Outlook: File access is denied. You do not have permission required to access the file c:\." Possible reason for this error is that when the PST file was written to CD-ROM, it was written with ‘read only’ permission. This is why the PST file on the DD was not allowed to modify. Errors in Outlook may also be displayed due to corrupt PST file. In this situation, you may have to perform PST File Recovery.
